A virtual pause in proceedings… or A little bling between races hurt no one

A virtual pause in proceedings… or A little bling between races hurt no one

So I ran 30 something races last year and decided that in 2015 I would be sensible and stick to a maximum of a dozen.
APRIL

One Big Fat Run Virtual

MAY
4/5 Running Nerds Jedi Challenge 2015 Virtual
10/5 Relish Events Two Tunnels 10K Bath
JostRunning Run Together 5K Virtual
24/5 BUPA Westminster Mile London
25/5 BUPA London 10K London
JUNE
14/6 Rock and Roll Liverpool Half Marathon Liverpool
JULY
12/7 British 10K London
VirtualRunnerUK July 5K Virtual
AUGUST
9/8 RunThrough Battersea 10K London
SEPTEMBER
27/9 Berlin Marathon Berlin
OCTOBER
25/10 Swiss City Marathon/Half Marathon Lucerne
That was tricky in itself, being a magpie attracted to the beautiful shininess of bling. It is more often than not meaning that I have a month between races which, in itself, is a good this as I am genuinely training now and have already for 1K, 10K and Half PBs this year already, but it can mean that I am a month between races, and therefore a month between visits to my medal rack, and so, in the month plus between the Two Oceans Marathon and before the the Two Tunnels 10K in Bath I decided to sign up for 4 virtual races.
And so, as you can see, I added…
One Big Fat Run Virtual
4/5 Running Nerds Jedi Challenge 2015 Virtual

JostRunning Run Together 5K Virtual
VirtualRunnerUK July 5K Virtual

The first you can see if the One Big Fat Run. This is a monthly virtual organised by the ladies at The Fat Girls Guide to Running and I was happy to pay and take part for a limited edition pink medal on London Marathon Day.

Although there was a mishap during my 6K virtual run. I ran down Primrose Hill in a pair of Nike Free Runners I am testing out but had a shoe malfunction and, instead of hitting pause on my Nike+ I pressed STOP. And so in my stats it is now down as two runs. LOL. Am such a twat sometimes.
The only medal to have arrived at the time of writing is from those wonderful people over at Jostrunning, my first virtual race medal supplier from the US.
I shall run either Bank Holiday Monday or Sunday for this one, giving any new shoes I have (I bought two pairs this week) or my old Hokas, an outing.
Next up in July I am running a virtual 5K with the guys over at the UK version of Jost, VirtualRunnerUK. It is the SRC 5K.
And finally, although I have heard nothing yet from them despite paying and emailing via several means is this amazing virtual bling from the Running Nerds.
I do hope it arrives so I can run it.
Anyway, my advice if you have gaps between races is to sign up, it gives you something to aim for.
